The Brunei Darussalam national rugby team left the country to compete in the HSBC SVNS Singapore, taking place from April 5 to 6 at the Singapore National Stadium.
The Bruneian team has been placed in Group ‘B’ and will face both Singaporean teams as well as Thailand. Group ‘A’ consists of Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia.
Brunei’s first match will be against Thailand tomorrow at 10.20am.
As part of their long-term development strategy, Team Manager and Brunei Rugby Secretary General Mohammad Azahar bin Haji Timbang emphasised the importance of continuous growth and investment in young talent. “Our participation in the Singapore Sevens is not just about this tournament – it’s about building a strong rugby pathway for our athletes.”
He added, “We have also been developing our training programmes and pathway development teams, ensuring our players receive the best preparation.
