Thirty-eight rowers from the 1 Semangat Pasukan Tamoi Bersatu (1SPTB) from Mukim Tamoi bagged gold in the Baram Regatta 2023 held from September 28 to October 1.
The contingent won cash prizes totalling MYR40,500 after securing key victories in various categories and was led by 1SPTB General Secretary Rohsidi bin Abdul Latif and Team Manager Mohd Fadillah bin Haji Serudin.
Also accompanying the contingent was team coach Ariffin bin Haji Zainal.
The team secured first place in the 25-rowers open category and the unlimited Open Piala Unity Baram Regatta. They also came in second place in the Raja Batang Baram Regatta Open Cup and Sarawak Premier Cup Unlimited Rowing.
Meanwhile, the team was placed third in the open men’s 30 rowers, open men’s 15 rowers and open’s 30 rowers. The group also secured second and third places in the Unlimited Open Rowing category.
With these achievements, the team is in high spirits as they look forward to competing in the Sarawak International Dragon Boat Race 2023 to be held in Kuching, Sarawak in Malaysia at the end of this month. – Daniel Lim
