Brunei registers 981 new COVID cases

Brunei Darussalam yesterday recorded 981 new COVID-19 cases, comprising 979 local and two imported cases.

This brings the national tally of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 20,454.

The Ministry of Health released the COVID-19 updates in a statement yesterday.

According to the statement, 196 cases have recovered, bringing the total recoveries to 16,610.

The bed occupancy rate at isolation centres nationwide is 31.9 per cent.

No COVID-19 related deaths have been reported. Out of 3,742 active cases, three Category 4 cases require oxygen assistance and are under close observation. No Category 5 cases have been reported.

As of February 10, 94.9 per cent of the populace had received one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, 94.1 per cent two doses, and 44.9 per cent had received booster shots.

Meanwhile, enforcement personnel yesterday night nabbed three violators of the stay-at-home directive from midnight to 4am.

The local offenders were Taufik bin Abdul Rahim, Wafiyyudin bin Mansor and Md Abdul Syukri bin Abdul Rahim, according to the Royal Brunei Police Force. All violations were reported in the Brunei-Muara District.
