A delegation from the Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) attended the golden jubilee of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Southeast Asia in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia recently.
Senior members of the BDRCS led by its President Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusoff bin Pengiran Haji Bahar held discussions with the Secretary-General of the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) as well as made a courtsey call to the new International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) head of delegation to the Kuala Lumpur Office Alexander Matheou.
Malaysia is home to the first Southeast Asia regional office of the ICRC. The event also coincided with the 60th anniversary of Malaysia’s accession to the 1949 Geneva Conventions, the core treaty of international humanitarian law.
The ICRC and the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs jointly hosted a celebration of the event at Zenith Putrajaya on June 9.
