Brunei records 63 new local COVID cases

Brunei recorded 63 new local COVID-19 cases yesterday, bringing the national tally of confirmed cases to 16,476, Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar said at a press conference yesterday.

The minister said all the new local cases were detected through 1,258 laboratory tests conducted in the past 24 hours.

Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham said 23 cases have recovered, bringing the number of recovered COVID-19 cases to 15,920. There are 454 active cases. The bed occupancy rate at isolation centres nationwide is 9.3 per cent, and there are no cases in categories 4 and 5.

As of January 30, the country’s vaccination rate saw 94.8 per cent of the total population receiving the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 94.0 per cent with two doses and 40.0 per cent receiving their boosters.

“Between January 23 and 29, Alhamdulillah, there are no mukims with over 40 cases, of which 22 or 56.4 per cent had a total of between one to 40 cases and 17 (43.6 per cent) had zero cases,” said the minister.
