Brunei records 381 new COVID cases

Brunei Darussalam recorded 381 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, bringing the national tally of confirmed cases to 153,093.

Of this, 378 cases were detected through antigen rapid tests (ARTs) screening, while three of the 265 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed over the past 24 hours returned positive, said Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar during the daily press conference on COVID-19 yesterday.

The minister added, “There are no cases in Category 5 requiring treatment at the intensive care unit, nor are there cases in Category 4 requiring respiratory assistance.”

On the latest number of recoveries and active cases, Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham said, “A total of 536 cases have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 150,233.

“The total number of active cases is 2,635, of which 17 cases are being treated in hospitals and 2,618 are undergoing home isolation.”

On Saturday, the minister said, 229 first doses and 836 second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered to children aged five to 11, bringing the coverage rate for children to 83.9 per cent for the first dose and 67.5 per cent for the second dose.

The booster rate for citizens and residents stands at 71.8 per cent.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin was also at the press conference.
