Brunei Darussalam continued to impress in the continental powerlifting scene after bagging a flurry of medals in the Asian Powerlifting Federation Championships at the Club for People of Determination iDubai, United Arab Emirates recently.
National athlete Jackie Chan led the medal charge with three gold medals in the squat, deadlift and total categories, with silver in the bench category.
He also registered four national records in the squat, bench, deadlift and total categories.
His compatriot Ibnu Ayyub won three bronze in the squat, deadlift, and overall categories and posted a national record in the squat category. Powerlifting Federation Brunei Darussalam President (PFBD) and team manager Ming Lau also set four new national records in the squat, bench, deadlift and total categories.
Some 29 countries participated in the meet including Iraq, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Mongolia and India.
