Brunei petanque athlete Wirna bin Muhd Yassin and Limbang’s Julia binti Asa emerged winners during the Brunei Darussalam Invitational Men and Women Singles Petanque Championship at the Petanque Court, Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex on Sunday.
In the Men’s Category, local Masli bin Haji Said was the runner-up while Abdul Afiq bin Abdul Aziz came third. Lawas’ Muhammad Ehsan Darwish bin Rudy completed the top four.
In the Women’s Category, Angelyna Vera Jude of Brunei won second placed followed by her compatriot Hajah Surianah binti Haji Abd Timbul in third place.
Brunei Darussalam Boules Sports Association President Haji Mohamad bin Penglima Asgar Dato Paduka Haji Abdullah presented the prizes.
A total of 52 participants, including teams from Limbang, Lawas, Miri and Thailand took part in the men’s category while 14 from Brunei, Limbang and Miri registered in the women’s category. – Fadhil Yunus
