The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Brunei Darussalam and the Foreign Ministry of Oman held a bilateral consultative meeting (BCM) in the capital, where they reviewed and plannned to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries.
The meeting was chaired by Undersecretary for Political Affairs at the Oman’s Foreign Ministry Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Issa Al Harthy and Permanent Secretary (Politics and International Organisations )at the MFA of Brunei Darussalam Pengiran Norhashimah binti Pengiran Mohd Hassan.
The BCM further discussed bilateral relations in the areas of economic and investment cooperation, logistics, clean energy, green hydrogen, cultural exchange and educational exchange.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Brunei Darussalam Erma Said Mohamed Al-Kathiry with Oman’s delegation and several officials from the MFA.
Before the meeting, Sheikh Khalifa bin and Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof held a courtesy meeting.
The discussions centred around enhancing bilateral relations, with a particular focus on key areas such as investment, trade, economy, cultural exchange and other matters of common interest.
Sheikh Khalifa also held a courtesy meeting with Acting Managing Director of Brunei Investment Agency Ahmad Jefri bin Abdul Rahman. During the meeting, discussions focused on economic cooperation and potential avenues for collaboration in related fields.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Issa Al Harthy and the delegation also paid a visit to Golden Corporation Sdn Bhd (GC), a company based in Brunei Darussalam that specialises in fish farming and high-quality seafood products.
The Oman Brunei Investment Company (OBIC) owns a 50-per-cent share in GC since 2019.
During the visit, Sheikh Khalifa met with the company’s managing director, Richard Chuang, and toured the premises.
