‘Brunei more than just jungles for military training’

Brunei Darussalam’s unspoiled nature and its efforts for responsible tourism are what appeal to eco-tourists from other nations.

Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin said this at a networking session with travel agents in Singapore.

“Every destination has its unique charms and appeals. Brunei Darussalam, nestled in Borneo, is a destination with charms that might not appeal to everyone but has special offerings that make Brunei stand out to travellers.

“The Sultanate is more than just jungles for military training; it is a serene retreat providing individuals with an opportunity to escape from the stresses of work and unwind in a peaceful and pristine environment,” said the minister at the event organised by Brunei Tourism.

The networking session was attended by 20 travel agents and members of the Singaporean media. The event at Royal Plaza on Scotts was the first for the year aimed at fostering connections among travel professionals from Brunei and Singapore.

The event, hosted by the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) in collaboration with the National Association of Travel Agents Singapore (NATAS), included product presentations by Brunei Tourism and their stakeholders.

Brunei Tourism targets 362,000 international tourist arrivals with an estimated BND228 million in tourism receipts this year. In 2023, Singaporean tourists recorded 8,192 arrivals to the Sultanate.

Brunei Tourism is planning to host familiarisation trips and a series of marketing campaigns this year.
