Brunei, Malaysia continue to strengthen ties: Envoy

Brunei and Malaysia continue to step up efforts to further strengthen cooperation and ties, with this year seeing ministers from the two countries conducting work visits, Malaysian High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Dato’ Raja Reza bin Raja Zaib Shah said.

Speaking at a luncheon hosted by the Malaysian High Commission in Brunei Darussalam yesterday at Panaga Club, Kuala Belait, to celebrate the 66th Independence Day and the 60th Malaysia Day, the high commissioner said the gathering served to establish closer relations between the high commission and Malaysians living in the Belait District.

He added that among the highlights of the many visits between the two countries was by His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah and Her Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Hajah Azizah Maimunah Iskandariah binti Al-Marhum Al-Mutawakkil Alallah Sultan Iskandar Al-Haj as well as the members of the Malaysian royal family, who visited the Sultanate during their ‘Kembara Kenali Borneo’ tour across Borneo which drew a large turnout of both Bruneians and Malaysians gathering in the Belait to greet the royal entourage.
