Brunei Darussalam national football team fell to a second successive defeat in the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Mitsubishi Electric Cup (AMEC 2022) following a 5-1 loss to the Philippines at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila yesterday.

The national football team fell behind in the seventh minute after Philippines midfielder Kenshiro Daniels outpaced Brunei defender Wafi Aminuddin before steering home past goalkeeper Haimie anak Nyaring for the opening goal of the game.

Philippines midfielder Sandro Reyes doubled his side’s lead after firing home an unstoppable shot past the Brunei goalkeeper from outside the box.

The 19-year old opened his first senior international account.

The Azkals went three up to the good as an unmarked Jesus Melliza beautifully launched a rocket.

Sebastian Rasmussen also opened his account after drilling an effort past the Brunei goalkeeper following a strong run from his teammate Audie Menzi.

Brunei pulled one back as Razimie Ramlli scored his country’s first goal in the AFF meet after 26 years in the 70th minute.

Rasmussen added the gloss to a comfortable win after executing a cool low finish two minutes from time following a neat pass by Yrick Gallantes.

Brunei will continue their campaign against Indonesia at the KLFA Stadium next Monday.
