Brunei logs 82 new COVID cases

Brunei recorded 82 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, bringing the national tally of confirmed cases to 16,558. Of the new cases, 71 were local and 11 imported.

The new cases were detected through 3,872 laboratory tests carried out over the last 24 hours. The infection rate of positive cases stands at 2.1 per cent, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health (MoH).

Forty-four cases have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 15,964, while 492 active cases remain. The bed occupancy rate at isolation centres nationwide is 8.9 per cent, and no cases are in categories 4 or 5.

As of January 31, 94.8 per cent of the populace had received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, 94 per cent the second dose and 40.5 per cent their booster shot.
