Brunei logs 3,984 new COVID cases

A total of 3,984 new COVID-19 cases were reported yesterday, bringing the national tally of confirmed cases to 97,018.

No COVID-related deaths were reported, Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar said in the daily press conference yesterday.

The minister said that of the new cases, 3,152 were detected from antigen rapid test (ART) results uploaded to the BruHealth app, while 832 were from 3,404 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours.

Six cases are in Category 4 requiring oxygen assistance, while six are in Category 5 receiving treatment at the intensive care unit and requiring artificial ventilation assistance.

A total of 3,296 cases recovered yesterday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 56,642.

There are 40,225 active cases in the Sultanate, with bed occupancy rate in isolation centres nationwide at 9.1 per cent.

A total of 39,894 positive cases are currently undergoing home self-isolation.

As of March 7, 57 per cent of the total population had received three doses of COVID-19 vaccine, while more than 94 per cent of the populace were double vaccinated.

Meanwhile, Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham announced that ART kits can be purchased online through DART with the inclusion of delivery.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin also attended the press conference.
