Brunei logs 178 new COVID cases

Brunei Darussalam’s daily new COVID-19 cases remained under the 200 mark with 178 new cases detected yesterday. No COVID-19 related deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, said Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar at the daily press conference yesterday.

Of the new cases, 166 were results from antigen rapid test (ART) and 12 were results of 567 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours. The total number of cases reported in the Sultanate to date is 140,542.

The minister shared that one case is in Category 5, requiring intensive care unit treatment, while two cases are in Category 4, requiring oxygen assistance.

A total of 110 cases recovered yesterday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 139,297. The Sultanate has 1,027 active cases, with 31 receiving treatment in hospitals and 996 undergoing home self-isolation.

Meanwhile, 28.6 per cent of children aged five to 11 had received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination, while 63.1 per cent of the populace have received three doses of the vaccine.
