In celebration of Indonesia’s 79th Independence Day, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, Professor Doctor Achmad Ubaedillah, recently presented local lawyer Yusof Halim with the prestigious “Charter of Appreciation.”

This recognition was awarded in acknowledgment of Yusof’s dedication and services in helping in the field of services and protection of the Indonesian people in Negara Brunei Darussalam, the Indonesian Embassy said.

Yusof Halim, a partner at the local law firm Yusof Halim & Partners, has been a staunch advocate for Indonesian migrant workers in Brunei since 1988. His commitment to justice was notably demonstrated in 1994 when he successfully pursued the first legal case seeking damages for an Indonesian domestic worker who had been assaulted by her employer. Over the past 36 years, Yusof has handled a wide array of legal matters for Indonesian migrant workers and businesspersons, many of which were undertaken on a ‘pro bono’ basis.
