Deputy State Mufti Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Japar bin Haji Mat Dain @ Maidin left for Bangkok, Thailand to attend the 3rd Khair Ummah International Conference for ASEAN member countries yesterday.
This year’s conference titled ‘Introduction to Salafism and its Virtues in ASEAN countries’ will be held today and tomorrow.
Acting Assistant State Mufti (Buhuth) Haji Muhammad Sofian bin Tengah is also participating. Saudi Arabia Minister of Islamic Affairs, Da’wah and Guidance Sheikh Dr Abdullatif Al Alsheikh is scheduled to chair the conference.
It will also be attended by ministers, muftis, representatives from universities, Islamic associations, and religious and cultural leaders from ASEAN member countries.
The conference, organised by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Da’wah and Guidance, aims to realise the sources of goodness that exist in the country and its contribution to the well-being of the global community, fighting for peace, justice, and spreading goodness.
It is also intended to emphasise the efforts of Islamic institutions in promoting the welfare of the country and foster a stronger relationship between this institution and influential Islamic figures to achieve this goal together. – Fadhil Yunus
