A delegation from Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali’s (UNISSA) Faculty of Islamic Development Management (FPPI) is attending the two-day 14th Borneo Islamic International Conference (KAIB 14) at Samarinda, Indonesia.
UNISSA Rector Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal is leading the delegation at the event that ends today.
KAIB 14, officiated by Mulawarman University Rector Professor Dr Ir Abdunnur, is themed ‘Preservation and Integration of the Role of Science and Charity in the Nusantara’ and features 51 papers.
Brunei Darussalam is represented by seven academics – FPPI Dean Associate Professor Dr Anis Malik Thoha; FPPI Deputy Dean Muhammed Sahrin bin Haji Masri; Dr Hussain bin Othman; Dr Khatijah binti Othman; Dr Mohammad Hilmy Baihaqy bin Haji Yusuf; Dr Nurefnazahani binti Haji Durani and Hajah Radziah binti Haji Abdullah.
A plenary session was held on education development. Among the presenters were Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) Ra’es Dr Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar and UNISSA Faculty of Agriculture Dean Associate Professor Dr Hajah Rose binti Abdullah.
The annual conference serves as a medium of discussion to develop Islamic research in Borneo pioneered by Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Sarawak in collaboration with UiTM Sabah, UNISSA, KUPU SB, Mulawarman University, Lambung Mangkurat University and Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Pontianak. – Rokiah Mahmud
