A Brunei Darussalam Go Association delegation led by team leader Chin Sin Voon and Coach Victor Wong Chun Kang competed in the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week ‘Jiu Pin Xi Jiu Cup’ Weiqi Invitational Tournament from November 6 to 11 at Guizhou City, China.
Brunei Go Players comprising Sia Kao Xiang, Michael Chen Guo Quan, Sham Neng Cong managed to place fifth with the Indonesia team in the Southeast Asia category.
Eight Chinese teams – Tianjin, Chongqing, Shanxi Taiyuan, Zhejiang Quzhou, Hangzhou, Henan Kaifeng, Yunan Kunming, Guizhou Guiyang – and eight Southeast Asian teams – Brunei, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam – competed in the event.
The event also held teaching games with World Champions Tang Weixing and Jiang Weijie and a live commentary game. – James Kon
