The Brunei Darussalam national futsal team face a tough test in the upcoming Asean Football Federation (AFF) Futsal Championship 2022 after being drawn alongside defending champions Thailand.
The national team have also been drawn alongside Malaysia, Indonesia and Cambodia. Group ‘B’ comprise Vietnam, Myanmar, Timor Leste and Australia.
Brunei learnt of their opponents following an official draw ceremony in the host city in
Bangkok yesterday.
It will be the futsal team’s first competitive return to a major international competition since 2018 when it was held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
The national team finished bottom of the group, which also included the eventual winners.
The tournament is slated to be held from April 3 to 12 at the Huamark Indoor Stadium in
Bangkok, Thailand.
It will also be used as the Asean qualifiers with the top three teams sealing berths to the AFC Futsal Asian Cup in Kuwait later this year.
