Brunei Darussalam’s national netball team finished sixth in the Asian Netball Championships 2022 after concluding their campaign with a 51-42 victory over Maldives at the OCBC Arena, Singapore Sports Hub in Singapore yesterday.
It marked their third victory in the competition following wins over Chinese Taipei and their first encounter with the Maldivians in the second round.
Brunei team captain Siti Marhayati binti Ahmad said, “It’s been two years since we last had an international match. So, it has been a really good experience to be out here in the championships.”
She added, “We have new players coming in our team. I’m proud of them flying the flag for the country and playing all out.”
Brunei, also known as the Royal Bees, were in relentless form in the early stages of the match after ending the first quarter with a massive 16-7 lead.
Maldives brought the game closer as they reduced their deficit by five points at the end of the second quarter.
