Brunei Darussalam Fencing Team achieved outstanding results at the First Borneo Cup Fencing Challenge Trophy 2023 and Borneo Junior Fencing Championship 2023 recently, with the team winning 16 medals comprising four gold, four silver and eight bronze.
Ziqah won gold medal and Dayangku Siti Syaherah won bronze in the women’s individual sabre category. Meanwhile, Zahra Imani and Harisah were placed third in the individual epee category, while
Haziq won silver and Adrian won bronze in the men’s individual sabre category.
The Brunei’s men team won bronze and the women team won silver in the team epee events category, while the Brunei men’s team won silver and women’s team won gold in the team sabre event.
Meanwhile, the country’s under-14 boys home three medals with Hanis securing gold, Ismail with silver and Yassir with bronze in the individual sabre category.
In the under-14 girls events, Zara Imani won gold and Harisah and Aalia came in third place in the individual epee category, while Nur Amal was the second runner-up in the individual sabre category. – Lyna Mohamad
