The Law Society of Brunei Darussalam participated in the Ceremonial Opening of the Legal Year in Hong Kong 2025 (OLY), represented by its President Haji Mohammad Zainidi bin Haji Abdul Hamid.
The annual ceremony underscores Hong Kong’s strong legal foundation while serving as a platform to highlight its legal achievements and cultural diversity to the international community. This year’s OLY welcomed around 100 bar leaders and representatives from 41 lawyers’ associations and legal organisations across 16 jurisdictions.
The Law Society of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Bar Association co-organised a series of side programmes for the international delegates, including a presidents’ roundtable discussion on the theme ‘Reform – Embracing Change, Ensuring Sustainability, Enhancing Service’.
Brunei’s participation in the event reflects the country’s ongoing commitment to engaging with international legal bodies and fostering regional cooperation in the legal sector. – Fadley Faisal
