Brunei charms Japanese navy sailors

Japanese Navy’s Sergeant Sato was impressed by the Islamic culture and nature in Brunei Darussalam.

Sergeant Sato from the Navigation Department was among the crew members onboard Japan naval ship JS Kashima who went on a short sightseeing tour of the Sultanate.

JS Kashima is one of two ships from the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force in the country for the four-day stopover for the Overseas Training Cruise 2024. Meanwhile, Communications Officer Sergeant Matsuda observed that traffic etiquette here is commendable, particularly cars stopping for pedestrians crossing the roads.

Communications Officer Naruo said the tour was a good opportunity to observe prayers, women wearing hijabs, the mosques and Islamic culture.

Apart from experiencing Islamic culture, the Japanese naval crewmembers also tried traditional food, visited landmarks and met locals. – Lyna Mohamad
