The Ministry of Defence (MinDef) and the Australia’s Department of Defence conducted the 19th Joint Defence Working Committee (JDWC) at Bolkiah Garrison on Wednesday, said the MinDef in a statement.

The meeting was co-chaired by Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Strategy) at the MinDef Haji Adi Ihram bin Dato Paduka Haji Mahmud and Australian Assistant Secretary (Southeast Asia) International Policy Division of the Department of Defence David Lewis.

According to the MinDef, the meeting re-affirmed Brunei Darussalam and Australia’s longstanding and positive bilateral defence and military relationship. The meeting also discussed the progress of bilateral defence cooperation, as well as explored prospects for defence engagements.

The two sides also exchanged views on the regional security dynamics and reviewed the ongoing co-chairmanship of the fourth cycle of the ADMM-Plus Experts’ Working Group on Military Medicine.
