Brunei air force chief receives Singaporean military award

Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Mohd Sharif bin Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim was conferred Singapore’s prestigious military award – Meritorious Service Medal (Military) (MSM(M)) by Singaporean President Dr Hajah Halimah binti Yacob.

Singaporean Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen presented the award at the Ministry of Defence in Singapore.

The commander inspected the guard of honour and paid a courtesy call to the Singaporean minister, Singaporean Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant General Melvyn Ong and Chief of Singaporean Air Force Major General Kelvin Khong prior to the ceremony.

Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Mohd Sharif is in Singapore until tomorrow for an introductory visit that includes visiting 126 Squadron at Sembawang Air Base Headquarters, the Air Power Generation Centre at Changi Air Base, UAV Command at Tengah Air Base, and Singapore Air Traffic Control Centre.

The RBAirF Commander said receiving the award is a “tremendous honour”, and it represents the RBAirF’s long-standing close ties with the Singapore Armed Forces as well as recognises the meritorious service not only of himself but also of the officers, airmen, and airwomen of the airforce.
