Brunei aim to turn the tide against Timor Leste

Brunei Darussalam will be aiming to overturn a one-goal deficit against Timor Leste to advance into the group stage of the ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2024 when they meet in the second leg of the qualification round at the Chonburi Stadium in Chonburi, Thailand tonight.

The Wasps are trailing 1-0 from the first leg after Paolo Domingos Gali da Costa Freitas’s strike separated the two sides.

However, Brunei, who look to repeat their aggregate victory during the previous qualification round, still have designs to reach the main phase which is scheduled to be played in December. Brunei Darussalam interim head coach Jamie McAllister said during a pre-match press conference, “The lads are eager and focused. I expect a tough game but we are determined to secure a positive result and turn things around.”

Defender Nazry Aiman Azaman echoed his coach’s sentiments, “We are physically and mentally prepared, and we are aiming for a win to progress further in the group stage.” – Fadhil Yunus
