Wajid, a delicacy closely associated with Temburong District, is now available in Tutong District after Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong unveiled Wajid Tanjong Maya or wajid pulut kacang hijau during his visit to Lamin Warisan in Kampong Tanjong Maya yesterday.
Wajid Tanjong Maya, a delicacy that can be found in Tutong District, differs from other wajid in how it is made, using green beans as one of the ingredients that lends to its unique taste.
“Alhamdulillah, my family and I are happy and excited that wajid Tanjong Maya was launched today by the minister,” said Dayangku Hajah Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Suhaili, who created the popular delicacy.
She added, “The recipe was passed down from our grandmother. We always have wajid Tanjong Maya during family gatherings. But we only make it on request and have yet to supply to retail shops. ”
The minister also witnessed the making of wajid during a live cooking demonstration.
