Some 19 individuals, including four executive committee members, one lecturer and 15 students from Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), Politeknik Brunei (PB) and the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE), participated in the Overseas Learning Journey Programme to Singapore recently.
The annual programme was organised by the Brunei Cybersecurity Association (BCSA) and Association of Information Security Professionals (AiSP), through their participation in the SEA Cybersecurity Consortium and the ASEAN-Japan Cybersecurity Community Alliance (AJCCA).
It coincided with the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the Sultanate and Singapore.
The five-day programme saw interactive sessions, campus tours and discussions on the latest trends and challenges in the cybersecurity landscape.
The participants attended the AiSP CyberSec Conference 2024, which focused on small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the cybersecurity sector. BCSA President Mohamad Azad Zaki bin Haji Mohd Tahir delivered a presentation on ‘Cybersecurity in a Budget: Essential Protections for Your Growing Business’, contextualised for the Bruneian landscape.
Meanwhile, the programme also saw the signing of a memorandum of understanding between BCSA and Wissen, solidifying their partnership as training partners.
The programme aimed to provide participants with insights into advanced cybersecurity practices, foster cross-border academic and professional collaboration, and strengthen ties between educational institutions in Brunei and Singapore.
The second Brunei Cybersecurity Conference (CySec) 2024 by BCSA is scheduled from September 18 to 19.
