Bridging the gap between classroom and real-world experiences

Laksamana College of Business (LCB) witnessed a flurry of creativity, talent and organisational prowess as students showcased their skills in a series of events under the banner of LCB Extraordinary November 2023.

The initiative aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world experiences, offering students a unique opportunity to hone their skills in event management and organisation. The festivities began with a gastronomic delight hosted by the students from The Culinary School. Patrons were treated to a culinary journey at a themed lunch event featuring a Singaporean-inspired three-course meal.

Simultaneously, the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Business students took the stage with a virtual showdown at the LCB FIFA Tournament on Saturday. The tournament brought out the competitive spirit in the participants as well as showcased the strategic and managerial skills of the business students organising the event.

The following days saw the transformation of the college into a bustling Food and Thrift Alley hosted by the BTEC Level 3 Diploma students.

The alley featured an array of food and beverage stalls alongside thrift vendors. The event provided a platform for local vendors and allowed students to gain practical insights into event management and entrepreneurship.

All events were meticulously planned and executed by students as part of the ‘Managing an Event’ module, emphasising the practical application of theoretical knowledge. LCB Extraordinary November served as a testament to the college’s commitment to holistic education.

The success of these events shows a clear indication of the students ability to rise to the occasion and showcase their talents on a grand stage, setting a precedent for their future endeavours. – Azlan Othman
