The Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Bridge and Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Bridge lit up in blue yesterday, to mark the World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness (AMR) Week.
The World AMR Week is celebrated annually from November 18-24.
Themed ‘Educate. Advocate. Act Now’, the celebration outlines the importance of increasing awareness and understanding on antimicrobial resistance. It also promotes practices to reduce emergence and spread of antimicrobial resistance or drug-resistant infections.
According to the Ministry of Health, antimicrobial resistance is when infections no longer react to microbial treatment. – James Kon
