The Gostrike Bowling Month was yesterday launched at the Gostrike Bowling Centre, attracting the participation of over 50 enthusiasts from across the Sultanate and beyond.
A number of activities and competitions will be held throughout the month, organised by Gostrike Bowling Company in celebration of its first anniversary, and to kick off the event was a bowl-a-thon, which challenged bowlers to completing 16 games on the opening day.
Present as the guest of honour at the launch was Legislative Council member and Mukim Bukit Sawat Penghulu Yang Berhormat Haji Mohd Salleh bin Haji Othman, who officiated the event by delivering the first ball.
Event chairman Nazdeny bin Johan said other activities that have been lined up for the month are a Bowling Fiesta Weekend, clinics and workshops as well as four tournaments in October and November.
“We hope the month of bowling will inspire new people to pick up the sport, while allowing seasoned bowlers to further hone their skills,” he said. – Daniel Lim
