Boosting ASEAN-China educational cooperation

Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh delivered a speech via a pre-recorded video at the 3rd ASEAN-China Education Minister Roundtable Conference held virtually.

The conference aims to strengthen educational cooperation between ASEAN and China with the intention of examining the progress and development of education towards 2030. The conference this year carried the theme ‘Building an Amicable Home Together: ASEAN-China Education Cooperation and Development Towards 2030’.

Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the Ministry of Education (MoE) Dr Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin also attended the conference.

Ministers of Education of ASEAN and China shared on the direction of education policy in their countries on three areas, namely Improving the Quality of Human Resources; Strengthening the Ties of Research Collaboration; and Promoting Digital Transformation of Education.

Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah shared the achievements of higher education and technical and vocational institutions in the Sultanate as well as the MoE’s initiatives on the Digital Transformation Plan in an effort to make digital learning the new norm in the education system in Brunei Darussalam. The conference also saw the launch of an outcome document entitled ‘Building an Amicable Home Together: Vision and Action on ASEAN-China Education Cooperation and Development’.

The conference was preceded by an opening ceremony of the 2022 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week, co-officiated by Vice Governor of Guizhou province Guo Xiwen and ASEAN Secretary-General Dato Paduka Lim Jock Hoi.
