Boost for Brunei’s business landscape

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah hailed the indispensable role played by the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Brunei Darussalam (NCCIBD) within the local business ecosystem.

The NCCIBD’s steadfast support for private sector initiatives aimed at advancing economic and trade cooperation in the Sultanate was lauded during the opening of their new office at the Design and Technology building, alongside the launch of the NCCIBD website.

The minister highlighted the Chamber’s recent significant step towards expanding market access.

The NCCIBD signed a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Hainan Provincial Committee.

The move aligns seamlessly with the government’s commitment to various international engagement platforms like BIMP-EAGA and ASEAN+3, ultimately creating opportunities for local businesses to reap substantial benefits.

“Recognising the immense potential of NCCIBD, I firmly believe that fostering partnerships, nurturing commitments, and engaging stakeholders from both the public and private sectors are of paramount importance. These endeavours are crucial in realising the aspirations outlined in our Economic Blueprint,” the minister said.

NCCIBD President Haji Abdul Saman bin Haji Ahmad emphasised that the chamber has been actively engaged in various initiatives aimed at fostering regional and global collaborations  throughout 2023.

Notable among these efforts are the successful signing of MoUs with the Borneo Economic Community, the Inner Mongolia Trade Delegates, and the Hainan Trade Delegates.
