Two local bodybuilding athletes who had bagged a number of medals at various competitions in Phuket, Thailand returned home on Thursday.
Zorizal bin Haji Johari won silver in the Master’s Men’s Bodybuilding 40-49 years old in the Open One category during the 13th World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports (WBPF) Championships.
The local athlete also finished fourth in the Senior Men’s Bodybuilding up to 70 kilogramme category in the same competition.
His compatriot Mohamad Fairul bin Haji Rashid struck gold in the Master’s Men’s Physique category during the Physical Culture Association (PCA) Thailand Championship and bronze in the Master’s Men Physique during the PCA Phuket Open.
Zorizal in an interview said, “The competitors hailed from great nations. It was unexpected that from the 50 countries that were represented, Brunei competitors were able to obtain a top-five finish.”
Meanwhile, Mohamad Fairul said, “The challenges in the competition came from opponents from Indonesia, Macao, Taiwan, the United Kingdom and Russia. Their physical size is different compared to us but Alhamdulillah, through our efforts and rezeki, we were able to achieve victory.”
