The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) nabbed 37 individuals and seized some 556.67 grammes of syabu from the two phases of SAI-GONE operation, targetting those believed to be involved in illicit drug activities in the Belait District.
The NCB stated that the seized drugs are worth BND108,000 and could have been consumed by 55,667 drug abusers.
The first phase of the operation was conducted in December.
During the second phase on February 20, the NCB went to five locations in where 22 individuals, comprising 18 men and four women, aged between 17 to 53, were detained.
The NCB also seized 282.76 grammes of syabu and BND2,630 cash believed to be proceeds from the sales of drugs.
Exhibits included utensils for the consumption of drugs, a few mobile phones and a digital scale used in drug trafficking.
One of the suspects will be brought to court to face a charge under Section 3A of the Misuse of Drugs Act, Chapter 27 for trafficking over 100 grammes of syabu which carries the death penalty.
One of the detainee is the child of the main suspect.
