The Enforcement Division of the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board issued a BND1,000 fine on a Seria company for littering.
During a routine patrol, personnel learnt that the company had disposed unwanted construction materials at the Jalan Sultan Omar Ali public car park. The fine was issued under Section 12, Chapter 30 of the Miscellaneous Offences Act.
The company was given seven days to settle the fine, failing which will result in the case being brought to court. If found guilty, a further fine of not less than BND2,000 and no more than BND10,000 will be handed out. Subsequent offences will see a penalty fine of no less than BND10,000 and no more than BND30,000, or imprisonment of no less than 12 months.
The Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board reminded the public and business owners to ensure the cleanliness of their surroundings. Officers from the division conduct patrols to ensure the proper disposal of trash.
