BNA launches Pesta Netball Kitani

The country was gripped with netball fever following the official launch of the Pesta Netball Kitani (PNK) at the multipurpose hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas yesterday.

Launched by the Brunei Netball Association (BNA), the ceremony was officially opened by its President Lieutenant Colonel (Rtd) Hajah Wan Shahlimar binti Haji Suhaili.

Super Squad Chief Executive Officer Faezal bin Haji A Murni as well as members of BNA and Super Squad were also present.

The event commenced with the recitation of Doa Selamat by Asmawi bin Haji Sulaiman.

The ceremony also coincided with the launch of the ‘Net Squad’ app.

The event also witnessed a warm-up session conducted by Victorious Gymnasium instructor for participants from various ages who joined the Fun Community Netball.

The three-hour long Fun Community Netball from 10am to 1pm was followed by the Men’s District Netball League from 1pm to 6pm.

The cooperation aimed to identify the national talent discovery programme, discover and nurture promising young netball players, and provide training and support, including where to host speciality training camps and workshops.

The platform will also be utilised for player scouting and collaborative marketing campaigns, events and initiatives.

Several events will be rolled out for August as part of the PNK including Fun Community Netball, World Cup Fever semi-final screenings, Women’s Netball Tournament, Grassroots Fundamentals for Kids, Corporate Tournament, Veterans’ Tournament, Men’s Tournament, Umpires and Coaches Clinics, and more.

The month-long festival serves as an opportunity to increase community participation through netball activities in the Sultanate. – Fadhil Yunus
