Since the launch of BN on the Move, participation in the initiative has seen a 42-per-cent increase from 74,100 individuals in 2022 to 105,000 in 2023.
The average daily steps among the users have also gone up, from 2,200 steps in 2022 to 4,500 (estimated) steps in 2023.
This was shared by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar during the launch of BN on the Move Championship 2024 at the ministry yesterday.
During the 80 billion steps together campaign in 2023, he said, “Several new features were introduced, including a community steps challenge, corporate challenges and an incentive point system known as BruPoints. As a result of the features, as many as 1,577 teams participated in the community step challenge, 12 companies joined the corporate challenge and more than 80,000 digital and physical incentives claimed through the BruPoints system.” He also said, “BN on the Move Championship 2024 is based on enhanced user experience with additional features of gamification, providing team competition to encourage users to be more involved and competitive in physical activities.” The championship will be conducted for three months from May 20 to August 20 carrying the slogan ‘Brunei Melangkah Maju’.
The championship is divided into four categories – government sector, private sector, higher education institution and the public. The winning teams will be awarded trophies, except the public category.
The championship aside, the minister said several rewards can be obtained, such as ‘virtual badges’.
He added, “To ensure success of the BN on the Move Championship 2024, each participants’ full commitment is required, with support from superiors, to create an encouraging and positive health environment.
“At the same time, executives and management also play a vital role as motivators, facilitators and role-models for the staff under their care.”
The ceremony also saw a briefing on the new competition by Senior Medical Officer at the Health Promotion Centre Dr Hajah Norhayati binti Haji Ahmad. – James Kon
