The BMW Golf Cup Brunei 2021, billed as a flagship event organised by QAF Auto, teed off amid much fanfare at the Royal Brunei Golf & Country Club (RBGCC) in Jerudong yesterday.
The two-day tournament is envisioned to be the talk of the town and set the benchmark in amateur golf tournaments in Brunei.
The competition is played in a Strokeplay format over 18 holes.
Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Haji Muhammad Ruzaini bin Pengiran Dr Haji Mohd Yakub and Brunei Darussalam Golf Association (BDGA) Deputy President Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat were among those participating.
The BMW Golf Cup Brunei provides an opportunity for golfers to test their skills among their peers through the spirit of competition and camaraderie while enjoying premium hospitality.
Apart from vying for the prestigious title, golfers stand a chance to win attractive prizes including two Hole-in-one prizes.
On Hole 16, golfers will have a chance to win a BMW 520i M Sport sponsored by National Insurance Company Bhd; and an Omega Seamaster Chronoscope Co-Axia Master Chronoscope 43mm Timepiece valued at BND12,500 for Hole 3 sponsored by Chang Ein Hong Watch Dealer.
Others include the novelty prizes for Hole 14 Nearest to Line, Garmin Fenix 7 Pro Solar and Garmin Fenix 7S Pro Solar each valued at BND1,369 sponsored by Baiduri Bank. The Nearest to Pin prize for Hole 8 is a Montblanc Pix Rollerball Pen valued at BND400 sponsored by Chang Ein Hong.
The Longest Drive for Hole 17 will win a Scent Air Home Scenting Machine with Fragrance Cartridge valued at BND880 sponsored by ScentArt.
There are also lucky draw prizes including a Omega Seamaster valued at BND9,800 sponsored by Baiduri Bank, Golf Nation Callaway Golf Set valued at BND4,000 by Baiduri Bank, Golf Nation Cobra Golf Set worth BND3,000 by Baiduri Bank, and Royce Chocolate Hampers sponsored by Royce.
The tournament, which will draw to a close today with a prize presentation ceremony, is sanctioned by BDGA.
