Brunei Methanol Company Sdn Bhd (BMC) is committed to continuing its development, achieving further milestones and making a commitment to safety excellence by achieving 10 million manhours without lost time injury (LTI) in 2024, said BMC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jesus Enrique Mora Marin during the company’s annual dinner on Saturday.
“Looking back, last year we started off strong by having three offtakers for the international export of our methanol. Our shareholders ITOCHU and SDC (Mirkhas), in addition to MGC, have commercialised our product internationally. We also have been appointed to sell up to 10 per cent of our production to the local market,” he said.
The CEO said one of the key highlights for BMC last year was achieving a safety milestone by reaching nine million manhours without LTI – an achievement spanning over 17 years since its establishment.
“Let’s aim for 10 million manhours soon – raising the bar for safety excellence,” said Marin.
The CEO also shared some key achievements for BMC, such as the recognition of the methanol company for contributing to Brunei’s economic growth by supplying methanol locally after the launch of its onshore loading facilities and by achieving a production milestone of eight million metric tonnes of methanol. – Adib Noor
