Baiduri Bank held a blood donation drive in collaboration with the Blood Donation Centre of the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital on Wednesday.
More than 130 participants came together to donate blood in support of replenishing the low blood supplies at the national blood bank in RIPAS Hospital. The initiative, organised as part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility efforts, has been held annually since 2009.
The blood donation drive was spearheaded by the apprentices from the bank’s graduate apprenticeship programme (GAP), who began their six-month journey with the bank in May. Under the mentorship of their colleagues, the apprentices were responsible for coordinating the event, working closely with RIPAS Hospital and event partners.
Apprentices Syahirah binti Malik and Haziqah binti Juffri led the initiative, emphasising that teamwork and collaboration were essential to the event’s success. Their ability to work closely with others helped ensure everything ran smoothly and contributed to an impactful blood donation drive.
Reflecting on the experience, Syahirah said, “This event has been truly rewarding for our team. I want to thank everyone who participated; your contributions have made a significant impact in our community. It was also a pleasure to support Society for the Management of Autism Related issues in Training, Education and Resources (SMARTER) Brunei by featuring their cookies, which were well-received at the event.”
Participants also underwent a brief health check, including assessments of vital signs such as pulse, blood pressure, body temperature and haemoglobin levels.
Head of Group Human Resources and Administration Veronica Chong, was among those who donated blood. She said, “The turnout this year has been incredible. Both our employees and the public have shown support for this cause. Blood donations are critical to maintaining adequate supplies for our hospitals, and events like this play a vital role in ensuring we meet that need.”
