In celebration of the 54th anniversary of the name change from Bandar Brunei to Bandar Seri Begawan, a blood donation campaign was held in collaboration with the Blood Donation Centre of Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital.
The event, organised by the Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Department, took place on Thursday morning on the ground floor of the Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Department building on Jalan Perdana Menteri.
The campaign aimed to raise awareness and encourage community support for increasing blood stock at Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital, and as a contribution from the Ministry of Home Affairs and its departments, as well as the public, to help ensure the hospital has sufficient blood supplies.
In addition to promoting public health, the blood donation drive emphasised the importance of giving, highlighting that donating a single unit of blood can save a life. Participants were reminded that this act of kindness not only benefits others but is also a source of spiritual reward.
Among the attendees was Acting Chairperson of the Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Board Sharinah binti Haji Awang Suhaimi, who personally took part in the blood donation. A total of 43 people participated in this year’s campaign, contributing to the cause.
Darussani bin Haji Abdul Manaf, Assistant Municipal Officer Level 1, shared his experience as a regular donor, saying, “I’ve donated blood three times this year. I’m encouraged to donate regularly because a friend told me that giving blood generates fresh blood in your body, which makes you healthier.”
The event concluded with a strong message of community support and the importance of blood donation in saving lives, as participants reflected on the value of giving back through such noble efforts. – FADLEY FAISAL
