(ANN/THE KOREA HERALD) – Rose of Blackpink is set to make a significant move in her career by signing with The Black Label, an affiliate of YG Entertainment.
This label, headed by producer Teddy, has been instrumental in Blackpink’s success, having produced many of their hit songs such as “Ddu-du Ddu-du,” “Boombayah,” “Kill This Love,” and “How You Like That.”
“Ddu-du Ddu-du” is the lead single from the group’s first EP “Square Up” which was released in June 2018. Last May, it was reported that the the music video for the single surpassed 2.2 billion views on YouTube.
Teddy also produced both tracks from Rose’s debut solo single “R” in 2021, with the main track “On The Ground” achieving great success by topping the iTunes Top Songs chart in 51 regions and reaching No 70 on Billboard’s Hot 100, marking the highest position for a K-pop female singer at the time.
The Black Label has confirmed that they are in discussions with Rose following the media report.
This potential signing comes after all four members of Blackpink renewed their contracts with YG Entertainment in December, with the group’s activities estimated to have cost the label around USD29 million.
Since then, the other members have established their own companies to manage their individual careers.
