Bilateral meetings explore opportunities to further cooperation

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, yesterday morning attended a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun Manet, in which both leaders reiterated the special relationship between the Sultanate and Cambodia, through cooperation in the areas of people-to-people exchanges, trade and defence.

Both leaders also encouraged for the exploration of opportunities to expand cooperation further for both countries. In addition, His Majesty extended an invitation to the Prime Minister of Cambodia to visit Brunei, in which the prime minister also extended an invitation to His Majesty to visit Cambodia.

Diplomatic relations between the Sultanate and Cambodia were established on June 9, 1992.

Both countries share close and friendly relations through cooperation in the fields of trade, education, youth, sports and culture. The meeting was held at the Jakarta Convention Centre, Indonesia.

Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.

Prime Minister of Vietnam

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday attended a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Vietnam Pham Minh Chính, in which both leaders, among other things, highlighted the positive development of cooperation between the Sultanate and Vietnam, especially in four areas namely oil and gas, chemical industry, halal products and people-to-people exchanges.

Aside from this, His Majesty and the Prime Minister of Vietnam looked forward to deepening the relationship of both countries including through the advancement of cooperation in energy and food security. Diplomatic relations between Brunei and Vietnam were established on February 29, 1992, in which both countries cooperate extensively in the areas of trade, energy, education, aquaculture and people-to-people exchanges. The meeting was held at the Jakarta Convention Centre, Indonesia.
