BIBD SEED programme instils ‘growth mindset’

The BIBD Special Entrepreneurial Empowerment and Development Scheme (BIBD SEED) is a training programme encouraging participants to take up entrepreneurship in building the community and economy, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Junaidi bin Haji Masri said.

“The programme also hopes to develop the participants and instil a ‘growth mindset’ which is resilient and competitive, and to always seek opportunities for self-improvement and business endeavours, in line with current dynamics of the business environment,” he said.

Junaidi said this when BIBD yesterday celebrated 12 female entrepreneurs who graduated from the BIBD SEED.

The participants completed their training and bootcamp as part of the fifth cohort of the BIBD SEED Programme intake 2022/2023.

“BIBD will continue to be a strategic financial partner to the BIBD SEED entrepreneurs, providing guidance throughout their business activities via BIBD SME360, which will help them to achieve their aspirations in developing and advancing their businesses,” he added.

“We hope that entrepreneurs will continue to expand their businesses and contribute to diversifying the country’s economic activities.” Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman presented certificates to the graduates.

A sum of BND48,000 in Zakat funding were disbursed among the female entrepreneurs as capital to kick start their business ventures. Six of the 12 entrepreneurs will follow their passion in the food and beverage industry while the remaining six will be operating their businesses in the service industry.

The female entrepreneurs comprise underprivileged groups under the Islamic Da’wah Centre, Ministry of Religious Affairs; the Brunei Islamic Religious Council; the Community Development Department under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports as well as the Single Mothers Movement Association. – Azlan Othman
