BIBD recognised for outstanding support during COVID-19 outbreak

Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) was recently conferred the Distinguished Friends of BRC Award by the Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Society (BRC) in recognition of the bank’s strong support and collaborative efforts during COVID-19.

The award is the highest form of recognition and appreciation, given to selected corporate partners in recognition of their contributions, volunteer activities and ongoing support towards humanitarian endeavours.

The awards were handed over by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah.

Receiving on behalf of BIBD was Acting Managing Director and CEO Hajah Noraini binti Haji Sulaiman.

Hajah Noraini along with two members of BIBD Senior Management were awarded with BRC Gold Honorary Medals while eight staff members were given Silver Honorary Medals, in recognition of their roles in supporting the BRC in various capacities throughout the second and third COVID-19 waves.

BIBD worked closely with BRC in contributing COVID-19 hygiene packs and basic food necessities for underprivileged families.

BIBD staff who have been specially trained by the BRC also provided support for the Ministry of Health and were deployed to conduct antigen rapid testing (ART) for guests at national-level events.

In 2021, BIBD’s Head of Government Relations and Special Projects, Haji Mohammad Yusri bin Haji Wahsalfelah was awarded a COVID-19 Medal, the first Humanity Mission Medal introduced by the BRC since its establishment 70 years ago.

The COVID-19 Medal is the highest appreciation given to volunteers and individuals under the BRC in recognising volunteer work and contributions to initiatives implemented by the association.
