BIBD launches sustainability award incentives

Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) yesterday announced the launch of the BIBD Sustainability Leaders Awards to recognise and celebrate the efforts of youth in Brunei towards buiding a more sustainable future.

The initiative seeks to empower and inspire the next generation to take bold steps towards addressing environmental, social and economic challenges, forging a path towards a more sustainable and resilient society, according to the bank.

BIBD Managing Director and CEO Junaidi bin Haji Masri said, “In recent years, we have witnessed an increasing focus on sustainability, driven by the urgent need to protect our planet for future generations.

“The youth of today are at the forefront of this movement, displaying immense passion, dedication and innovative ideas in their pursuit of a more sustainable world,” he said.

He said the award will acknowledge and reward outstanding youth champions who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to sustainable practices and initiatives that can help steer the nation’s progress towards achieving Brunei Vision 2035 and United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs). The final category is the Best Overall Sustainability Project which will see BIBD awarding BND3,000 to the winners. This award will recognise those who are actively working towards a more sustainable and inclusive world, whether it is in the area of implementing eco-friendly projects, promoting renewable energy, educating the public and raising awareness on sustainability, or advocating for social justice.

The implementation of this award is part of BIBD’s commitment of BND2 billion towards sustainability funding under the BIBD Sustainability Framework and continued efforts towards achieving the SDGs.
