BIBD donates CISCO switches to UTB

Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) donated 57 CISCO switches of four different models to Universiti Teknologi Brunei’s (UTB) CISCO Academy lab.

BIBD Deputy Chief Information Officer from the IT Division Yusof Fadli bin Haji Sidek represented the bank while, UTB Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Services) Dr Mohamad Saiful bin Haji Omar received the switches.

The event commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat by UTB CISCO Coordinator Haji Rudy Erwan bin Haji Ramlie.

Dr Mohamad Saiful said, “UTB Cisco Networking Academy was established in November 2012 and has trained colleagues from the industries as part of its continuous professional development.

“Our students also benefit from the academy, as the CISCO courses offer curriculum using industry-relevant technologies and help learners expand their knowledge, develop skills and innovate. In turn, School of Computing and Informatics (SCI), UTB produces job ready, networking professionals.”

Meanwhile, Yusof Fadli said, “In line with BIBD’s corporate strategy of supporting the United Nations’ (UN) sustainable development goals, we thought it was fitting to find a way we can put the appliances to better use. UTB accepted our initiative.”
