Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam’s (BIBD) Aspirasi Rewards Campaign is one of the best ways to inculcate the culture of savings among the community. Through the initiative, one can be prepared for life’s uncertainties and increases feelings of security and peace of mind.
This was said by grand prize winner of Aspirasi 3 Rewards Campaign Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Mohammad Jefri bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Hamid during an interview with the Weekend Bulletin after receiving his BND250,000 mock cheque yesterday.
Expressing his gratitude to Allah the Almighty, the former Royal Brunei Police Force senior officer added that continuous Doa is an important way to gain rezeki and that having savings has always been his goal for his family when in need and to help others in need.
“I continuously save for the future. I started participating in this campaign since Aspirasi 2. Initially I didn’t realise the grand prize was BND250,000; last year’s edition motivated me to continue saving. Alhamdulillah, today I have been selected as the grandprize winner,” he said.
The drawing of winners for the grand prize of BND250,000 at the culmination of the BIBD Aspirasi 3 Rewards Campaign was held at the PGGMB Building in the capital.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II and Chairman of BIBD’s Board of Directors Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah presented the prizes to winners.
Yesterday’s ceremony also saw the awarding of five quarterly winners with BND10,000 each, while 15 monthly winners rewarded with BND1,000.
As part of the Aspirasi 3 grand prize draw, 20 subscribers were also awarded BND1,000 each as monthly winners.
Introduced in 2018, BIBD Aspirasi was initiated to support the Brunei Darussalam Central Bank’s (BDCB) objective towards promoting financial management skills and nurturing the culture of savings among the people of Brunei Darussalam.
To date, the number of subscribers for Aspirasi continues to grow exponentially and BIBD hopes this trend will remain in the long run, said Acting Managing Director and CEO of BIBD Hajah Noraini binti Haji Sulaiman.
BIBD has always remained true to their Bruneian at Heart principal and steadfast in supporting the national agenda towards financially literate Bruneian community, she added.
“When we first launched this initiative back in 2018, we aspired to ensure that our customers could enjoy a simple, hassle-free savings platform, which would allow them to save consistently. Alhamdulillah, we have made this possible with our BIBD NEXGEN Wallet where savings can now be done anytime and anywhere via mobile.
“This,” she added, “is especially useful in the current challenging times where most things have shifted towards digitalisation to minimise the spread of COVID-19”.
Over the course of last year, the Aspirasi 3 campaign has awarded a total of 441 winners with cash prizes.
Among the winners, 23 won with a deposit from as low as BND50. Six of them were drawn into yesterday’s grand prize draw.
The bank also launched its Aspirasi 4 campaign recently, which will reward over 400 winners with cash prizes totalling BND870,000 in the coming year.
While maintaining the minimum deposit from as low as BND50 to enable everyone to save and be part of the Aspirasi 4 rewards programme, and following the great success of Aspirasi 3, BIBD has now increased the maximum deposit amount to BND350,000.
Aspirasi 4 campaign continues to provide a multiplier effect that reward customers for staying committed for a longer period to cultivate customers to stay persevered and continue to save for longer.
For deposits held between 181 to 270 days, it will be entitled to double the number of entries, while deposits held for 271 days and more will be entitled to triple the number of entries.
BIBD Aspirasi 4 campaign depicted the success story of Kabunku, a local micro enterprise who initially started vegetable farming as a hobby.
From what started as a hobby during the start of the pandemic, he eventually became a successful entrepreneur as he stayed committed to his passion – Kabunku Aquaponics.
